I am very happy to have the opportunity to work with you and your child this year!
The goal of our kindergarten program is to create and maintain a balance of academic learning and social development. The curriculum is organized around thematic units of study. Reading, writing, math, science, and social studies activities are integrated when possible as we explore each unit of study. Your child will participate in whole group activities, cooperative small group work, as well as individualized tasks. There will be many opportunities for social development as the children work together at specific learning tasks, and as they engage in cooperative play in activities of their own choosing. Respectful behavior and conflict resolution skills are actively taught, helping to create an environment that is conducive to learning.
Here is some preliminary information regarding your child’s school experience:
Backpacks Please send your child to school each day with a backpack. This helps to keep belongings organized. It has been our experience that backpacks with wheels do not work well for small children. They pose a safety hazard by causing children to trip when walking in line, and also do not fit well in the cubbies. Therefore, we ask that you purchase a traditional backpack without wheels for your child. Please label the backpack with your child’s first and last name.
Daily Folders
The school will provide your child with a folder this year. The Daily Folder will be used every day to store homework, lunch money, and to send notes to and from school. Please send the Daily Folder to school with your child every day, and check it every afternoon for papers. On Fridays, the folder may contain notices from the school office, the P.T.O., and the Township, as well as samples of your child’s work. Please send the emptied Daily Folder back to school with your child every day. It is hoped that consistent use of this folder will enhance the home-school connection and help keep your child organized. In addition, an electronic Friday Folder will be available to you in order to keep you informed of important information.
Sharing Time Your child will be assigned a sharing day. On his/her sharing day, your child will be asked to stand in front of the class to orally share information. This activity will help to promote language development, allow your child to get to know and be known by his/her classmates, and help your child feel confident when speaking in front of a group. I will send home a sharing day schedule. PLEASE do not send in toys or games for sharing.
Communication I believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. I encourage you to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns. Email is the best way to get in touch [email protected] I will do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.
Be sure to follow Constable School on Facebook! Information, updates, and notifications about the various happenings at school will be posted. Additionally you will receive information on how to follow our class on Instagram, how to join our class directory and Class Dojo!
Items Needed The following list contains items that we will need for various activities and projects this year. If you are willing to donate a few of these items, please send them to school with your child.
